Sony will carry out live 4K broadcast tests in Brazil
The experience will take place on the occasion of the Confederations Cup at the Mineirão Stadium, in Belo Horizonte, and will serve as a test for the World Cup.
In collaboration with FIFA, Sony will be carried out on the occasion of the Confederations Cup, which will be held next June in Brazil, the first major test of broadcasting 4K content in real time.
During the Cup, Sony will deploy at the Mineirão Stadium, in Belo Horizonte, the first mobile unit developed specifically for Ultra HD production. In principle, this mobile will collect three games in this format.
The content will not be broadcast as the tests consist of testing the capture and delivery of 4K content, “focusing on the technical and creative aspects of the process,” according to Sony. This experience will give the opportunity to determine precisely what is necessary from the point of view of procedure, equipment and technique in a transmission of that magnitude.
Based on this initiative, Sony and FIFA will then consider the possibility of making 4K transmissions in future sporting events such as the World Cup that will take place in Brazil in 2014.
