Media Networks successfully completes the migration to Amazonas 3

Teams of engineers from Media Networks, Hispamar and Hispasat successfully conclude the migration of Media Networks' DTH services on HD and SD platforms from the Amazonas 1 satellite to the new Amazonas 3.

After confirmation of the commercial operation of Amazonas 3, Media Networks has begun the migration of DTH services on HD and SD platforms from Amazonas 1 to the new satellite Hispasat.

For a week, the teams worked intensely on the migration of more than two million users from five different operators in Brazil.

The Support, Maintenance and Headend teams were made up of engineers from Media Networks in Lima, Hispamar in Rio de Janeiro and Hispasat in Madrid, who were in charge of the migration work for quality assurance. For the final validation of the migration, teams from Media Networks and Hispamar were sent to Uruguaiana, Brazil, where the final tests were carried out.

Once the migration is completed, all the services offered by Amazonas 1 and that were migrated to Amazonas 3 are now operational, including the Ka-band satellite internet capacity acquired by Media Networks, which will begin to be distributed in South America in the second half of 2013.

Ka Band satellite internet services will be managed through the teleports that Media Networks is building in the US and Chile, which will be added to its regional head office in Peru.

Amazonas 3 is the tenth satellite placed in orbit by Hispasat and the third to be operated and marketed by Hispamar, the group's subsidiary in Brazil.
