NewTek brought Nik Wallenda's feat over the Grand Canyon to the whole world
Six TriCaster systems, models 455 and 855, broadcast live for the Network and Discovery Channel as the American tightrope walker crossed the 1,300-foot tightrope over the Grand Canyon.
American Nik Wallenda this week became the first man to cross the Grand Canyon on a tightrope. To bring the images of this feat around the world through the Internet and to 217 countries on the Discovery Channel, Studios Mobile used six TriCaster systems, four 455s and two . Five technical directors made it possible for the audience not to lose detail of every step that Wallenda took.
Nik Wallenda, 34, had already crossed Niagara Falls on a rope in June last year. In the new challenge, Wallenda said he was surprised by the stronger than expected wind. Wallenda crossed a part of the famous 457-meter-high gorge on a wire and without a safety net. The tightrope walker walked 426 meters in just over 20 minutes.
