Marvel begins filming 'Guardians of the Galaxy'
The film is shot at Longcross Studios, and on locations in and around London. It has Ben Davis as director of photography and Fred Baskin as editor.
The filming of Guardians of the Galaxy, the next epic adventure from Marvel Studios, has begun production at Shepperton Studios in the United Kingdom. The film is directed by James Gunn (Slither: The plaga, Super) based on its screenplay and the story is by Nicole Perlman and Gunn. It will reveal to the public a totally new and amazing aspect of the Marvel cinematic universe, a production company in the hands of The Walt Disney Company.
The cast includes Chris Pratt (Darkest Night, Moneyball: Breaking the Rules) as Peter Quill aka Star-Lord, Zoe Saldana (Star Trek: Into Darkness, Avatar) as Gamora, Dave Bautista (Riddick) como Drax the Destroyer, Lee Pace (The Hobbit, Lincoln) como Ronan the Accuser, Michael Rooker (The Walking Dead) as Yondu, Karen Gillan (Doctor Who) as Nebula, Djimon Hounsou (Amistad, Gladiator) as Korath, with Oscar winner Benicio del Toro (Traffic) como The Collector, John C. Reilly (Chicago) as South Roman, the Glenn Close (Albert Nobbs, Fatal Attraction) as Nova Prime.
The United States premiere of Guardians of the Galaxy de Marvel It is scheduled for August 1, 2014.
Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios, produces the film. Executive producers are Louis D'Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Jeremy Latcham, Alan Fine and Stan Lee; Nik Korda is co-producer.
The creative team includes director of photography Ben Davis, BSC (Wrath of the Titans, Kick-Ass), production designer Charles Wood (Thor: The Dark World), BAFTA-nominated editor Fred Raskin (Django Unchained, Fast and Furious 5) and Academy Award-winning editor Hughes Winborne, A.C.E. (Maids and Mistresses, Crash), and Oscar-winning costume designer Alexandra Byrne (Marvel's Avengers, Elizabeth: The Golden Age). The film is also shot at Longcross Studios, and on locations in and around London.
The last two releases from Marvel Studios were Marvel's Avengers y Iron Man 3. They ranked third and fifth on the Walt Disney Company's list of highest-grossing films of all time. Both films hold No. 1 and No. 2 on the box office collection list in a three-day weekend with 207.4 and 174.1 million dollars respectively. Among the studio's upcoming scheduled releases are THor: The Dark World on October 31, 2013, and Captain America: The Winter Soldier, which will hit the screens in Spain on April 30, 2014.
