Snell Sirius 800

Snell will present at IBC 2013 a major update to its Sirius 800 matrix family to include features such as multi-channel audio co-timing on all channels, easy reference switching for all formats, numerous control improvements and new audio and video fingerprinting technology.

The Sirius 800 system, which we can see in Amsterdam, will also offer frame-level synchronization with input and output cards with Advanced Hybrid Processing (AHP), clean mixing and routing and processing of audio and video signals independently without restrictions on signal formats, times or number of audio channels.

Alan Smith, product manager at Snell, notes that "the Sirius 800 matrix with AHP is known for its uniquely robust form factor in combination with its flexibility and functionality, which together offers users complete freedom in configuring the input and output signals of the matrix switcher. At IBC2013 we hope to demonstrate a variety of new features, capabilities and configuration options that together produce an even more versatile routing and processing solution."

The new unique control ensures constant delay and audio fade-out, as well as guaranteeing multi-channel audio co-timing for all “same format” signals across the entire array. Additionally, a single reference for switching all formats simplifies system design and a line synchronization mode allows re-synchronization and clean switching with minimal delay. The ability to adjust video and delay of individual audio channels allows you to compensate for input channel and audio encoding/decoding delays.

On the other hand, Snell has introduced Hyperion's fingerprint technology into this family of matrices. Finally, note that the possibility of frame synchronization with AHP cards from the matrix switcher itself makes it possible for each input on the Sirius 800 to have its own synchronizer, along with existing capabilities, including track swapping, gain, delay, and mixing capability for input level correction, standard channel configuration, Dolby 5.1 downmix, stereo to mono mixing, Dolby E delay compensation, video and audio delay correction, and frequency conversion. sampling with the house standard.
