Switzerland's Channel 9 migrates to HD with Grass Valley

The Swiss broadcaster migrates its workflow to high definition with solutions such as K2 Summit, Stratus, Edius and Edge.

Channel 9, a Swiss broadcaster based in Sierre, has selected several Grass Valley to allow the transition from SD to high definition. Grass Valley has supplied a K2 Summit client server client with a SAN configuration, the GV Stratus nonlinear production application including Edius editing capabilities, and the GV Edge integrated playout system.

For this project, Canal9 has signed a framework agreement with Grass Valley for a period of five years.

Stéphane Sassano, CTO of Channel 9, underlines that "the move from SD to HD is of great importance for Channel 9 because we are absolutely committed to offering our viewers the best possible quality of service. Grass Valley solutions have made the transition simple. Their intuition and ease of use has given us the time and freedom to be creative. We couldn't be happier with our new HD system which has responded to all our requirements."

Coherence

The strength of Channel 9's new Grass Valley system lies in its coherence, with seamless integration from ingest to broadcast. Additionally, the open nature of the technology means that Channel 9 has a wide variety of formats to work with.
