Canal Once installs Grass Valley solutions to make the leap to a 4K and IP environment

In a recent update to its news studio, Canal Once, one of the first public broadcasters in Latin America, has installed a series of advanced Grass Valley to streamline your news production and workflow and prepare to make the leap to a 4K and IP environment. This project is the first in this category to be carried out in Latin America by a public channel owned by the government.
The Mexican Canal Once produces four daily news programs from Monday to Friday, in addition to several interview, educational, documentary and children's programs.
The channel has updated its news studio with GV Stratus, with a set of tools for advanced production management, Edius editing software, a Karrera K-Frame switcher and a Kaleido-MX 4K multiviewer.
Oscar Baldenebro, director of operations at Canal Once, states that "since we have been using Grass Valley products and solutions for a long time, we have a very high level of comfort with the technology and we know that it is the right investment for us. GV Stratus is the perfect turnkey solution for us, since it works as a custom-made solution designed for our needs."
GV Stratus is a complete set of production tools in a single application, designed to be used with the greatest simplicity, efficiency and speed. Its tools are tailored specifically for each user's job function, helping them increase efficiency and enable more effective collaboration across the entire production cycle.
For its part, Edius offers deep integration with GV Stratus and allows operators to carry out real-time, multitrack editing, in combination with titration, chromakeying, compositing... without the need for conversions and other additional processes or components in the material output.
Preparing for the future with 4K and IP, Canal Once has opted for a Karrera K-Frame mixer from Grass Valley. Powerful and scalable, this mixer reduces the complexity of today's production workloads while providing the flexibility to meet future demands. With the addition of 1-wire 4K IP connectivity, Grass Valley is enabling production workflows over IP, whether in 4K/UHD or HD. The 4K 1-wire TICO application is ideal for production applications, as it does not present visible losses even with multiple encoding. It also has a lower delay than other compression formats. The K-Frame video processing engine is ideal for transitional, hybrid IP/SDI environments as it can handle both IP and SDI video formats seamlessly.
The entire project has been carried out in collaboration with Excellence in Communications and Technology.
