The Canadian company has integrated a Vizrt graphics system, automated by Ross's OverDrive system, into the new channel powered by ABC and Univision.

Fusion

Astucemedia, a Montreal-based provider of broadcast graphics solutions, has launched an integrated graphics workflow for news on the new Fusion channel, powered by ABC and Univision.

Starting from a scheme that mixes information, pop culture, irreverent reports, spaces about lifestyles... Fusion went on air last October 28, broadcasting from Miami.

Alexandre Leclerc, CEO of Astucemedia, highlighted that "since this audience is relatively young and tech-savvy, the challenge is to present on-screen graphics in conjunction with online news and social media. Fusion has successfully created a distinctive contemporary brand identity as an innovative channel. Astucemedia has collaborated with this by creating a live workflow based on intuitive and easy-to-use templates for producers, journalists and other newsroom staff."

In the months leading up to the launch of the new channel, Astucemedia dedicated a six-member technical team to solving such mission-critical problems as integrating a graphics system. Vizrt automated by the OverDrive system Ross, providing operational support and laying the foundation for future expansion.

This graphics workflow is already fully operational in programs such as The Morning Show, America with Jorge Ramos, Open Source, D.N.A., y AM Tonight.

Michael Berkman, vice president and creative director of Fusion, admits that "Fusion has reinvented television news for a generation that gets its news primarily through the Internet. We have worked very hard to break the rules of on-screen communication in a new and relevant way. We have worked with a design firm to create a global brand. For its part, Astucemedia came to Miami to work with us to create comprehensive systems for five new brands that our young audience was able to quickly learn."
