The XP-D and XP-I digital cinema servers will now support Barco's new three-dimensional surround audio.

Qube XP-D Server

Qube Cinema will now support Auro 11.1 sound, developed by Barco, on its XP-D and XP-I digital cinema servers.

Barco Auro 11.1 offers three-dimensional surround sound. With three layers of sound, Auro 11.1 mimics natural acoustics. Theater owners with existing Qube Cinema servers will now have an easy upgrade path to accommodate this new audio format.

Brian Claypool, senior director at Barco, said: "The addition of Auro 11.1 capabilities to Qube Cinema servers will allow exhibitors to maximize their revenue by offering audiences a high-quality sound experience. As it is compatible with existing standards and workflows, Auro 11.1 will offer a cost-effective upgrade path to this surround sound technology."

For his part, Raja Enok, Marketing Director of Qube Cinema, maintains that "the real sound experience offered by Barco's Auro 11.1 will make the Qube XP-D and XP-I servers a much more attractive solution. With just a software update, exhibitors will be able to play the new audio format and will provide movie fans with a superior sound experience."
