Offering a better acoustic experience in movie theaters is the goal of Christie Vive Audio, a solution that integrates a single box with front surround speakers with ribbon driver technology, articulated in a linear array, subwoofers and Class D amplifiers.

Christie Vive Audio

Christie has presented in EMEA Vive Audio, a solution composed of articulated line array speakers, designed with ribbon driver technology, which are combined with efficient and high-power Class D amplifiers.

Christie Vive Audio speakers and amplifiers can be integrated into any theater, existing or newly built, for the ultimate cinema viewing and listening experience.

"Although the introduction of digital technology since 2005 has brought about enormous changes in film content, many movie theaters continue to use audio systems designed for 35mm film. With the Christie Vive Audio system, the full benefits of the linear array configuration are leveraged into a cinema environment, combining it with ribbon driver technology and Class D amplification," said Craig Sholder, vice president of Christie's Entertainment Solutions business.

Integrated solution

The complete Christie Vive Audio solution consists of front surround speakers, subwoofers and Class D amplifiers. An integrated package that offers exhibitors the opportunity to present audiences with a movie viewing experience that surrounds them with dynamic, richly detailed and enhanced sound, so that language, special effects, music and alternative content sound more natural. At the heart of the system is the combination of front-facing ribbon driver speakers and the performance of a linear array speaker design, all in a single enclosure.

The innovative design of the Christie Vive Audio allows the listening area to be increased up to four times, compared to conventional systems based on compression speakers, resulting in fluid and uniform sound coverage throughout the room. Additionally, Class D amplifiers are more efficient, which reduces operating costs.

"Christie Vive adapts to the demands of any space, from post-production studios and screening rooms, through traditional theaters and even the largest cinemas. Each component has been designed to complement the other and combine to offer a complete solution. By combining the superior performance capabilities of each part into an integrated solution, it brings the next generation of cinematic sound to every theater," says Patrick Artiaga, director of Business Development, Audio Solutions, Christie's Entertainment Solutions division.
