Sandisk will launch a memory card to record in 4K
This new UHS Class 3 (U3) support will allow recording at speeds of up to 250 MB/s and up to 280 MB/s in transfer.
The new Extreme Pro SDHCT/SDXCT UHS-II card from Sandisk It now allows recording in 4K thanks to its Class UHS 3 (U3) speed. This support allows recording at speeds of up to 250 MB/s and up to 280 MB/s in transfer. With a commercial launch scheduled for next April, the new card will be presented with capacities of 16 and 64 GB.
Christopher Chute, director of digital imaging at IDC, said camera manufacturers are rapidly launching new camera models with higher shooting rates and 4K video capture. “The higher levels of performance offered by the new SanDisk Extreme PRO SD UHS-II card will help photographers, videographers and filmmakers get the most out of the capabilities of their professional cameras,” he said.
Fast recording speeds of up to 250 MB/s allow you to capture high-resolution images, such as RAW or JPEG. The card offers high video performance in sustained capture modes at 30 MB/s (U3), enabling the capture of cinema-quality 4K, 3D and Full-HD videos.
On the other hand, it should be noted that SanDisk Extreme Pro memory cards withstand extreme temperature conditions and use conditions.
Toshihisa Iida, from Fujifilm's optical devices and electronic imaging management, commented in reference to the first UHS-II compatible camera, the X-T1, that "the performance offered by the new SanDisk Extreme Pro SD UHS-II card will ensure that photographers can get the most out of their camera."
Coinciding with the launch of the new card, SanDisk will also put on the market a new reader/writer specially designed for UHS-II cards. It will have a USB 3.0 interface, capable of transferring content at speeds of up to 500 MB/s, ten times faster than a device with USB 2.0 connectivity.
