Avid shines on Oscar night

Best Sound Editing winner Glenn Freemantle and Best Sound Mixing winners Skip Lievsay, Niv Adiri, Christopher Benstead and Chris Munro used Avid Pro Tools, the industry's dominant digital audio workstation, to edit and mix the audio of Gravity. Included as other nominees for their audio work are Andy Koyama, Beau Borders and David Brownlow, who used Avid's System 5 control surface for the film nominated for Best Sound Mixing, The only survivor.

In the Best Original Song category, Pro Tools was used to create the winner Let It Go, from the movie Frozen, the ice kingdom (Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez) and the nominee Happy from Despicable Me 2 (Pharrell Williams).
