NAB 2014 starts with Ultra Definition and the cloud as protagonists
In Las Vegas, media and entertainment come together from April 5 to 10 in a complete offer in which deals are closed and ideas are shared.
NAB 2014 opens the doors of its exhibition area this Monday with the participation of 62 delegations, some of them will attend for the first time under an institutional umbrella, such as Germany, Holland, Panama, Italy and Serbia. More than 90,000 visitors gather until April 10 in Las Vegas to learn about the latest trends in the media and entertainment industry.
Dennis Wharton, executive vice president of NAB, has recognized that "the international focus of the NAB Show continues to grow, both in terms of number of participants and exhibitors. In Las Vegas we combine media and entertainment in a complete offer in which deals are closed and ideas are shared."
During these days, the Las Vegas Convention Center will be the showcase for 1,500 companies, 600 of them from outside the United States. From global leaders such as Sony (Japan) to European ones such as Vizrt (Norway), Brainstorm (Spain), VSN, Vector 3 or Tedial (Spain) or Quantel (United Kingdom), these international companies will show their technological solutions and services to the whole world.
Among this year's novelties, we highlight the NAB Show Collaborative, an initiative focused on the global media and entertainment industry that attempts to bring companies and international organizations together in an open dialogue that inspires growth and innovation in all segments of the industry from content creation to the consumer.
In this edition the focus is on how to harmonize the multi-channel, multi-platform and multi-device emergence with the monetization of services, many of which are already based on IP environments. At this NAB, large manufacturers present various video distribution ecosystem proposals that simplify media processes under a unified and collaborative platform and workflow.
Cloud-based solutions appear to hold the answer to transparently sharing projects and accelerating transcoding processes to output ever-increasing media assets across multiple devices anytime, anywhere.
As for 4K, FIFA's announcement at NAB that it will use professional 4K equipment from Sony in its live production processes during the World Cup in Brazil is on everyone's lips. And 4K seems to be definitely here to stay...
