Presentation of Hispasat 4K at NAB 2014

The Spanish satellite communications operator Hispasat has presented this Monday at NAB 2014 its pilot channel in Ultra High Definition, Hispasat 4K.

The broadcast content will be provided free-to-air by the Amazonas 3 satellite in its coverage of the center and north of the American continent. The satellite operator thus confirms its commitment to the distribution of content in 4K, a technology in which Hispasat is pioneering and has proven experience in Europe, where it has broadcast UHD content since September 2013, when its European 4K channel was presented at the IBC fair in Amsterdam.

Ignacio Sanchis, CCO of Hispasat, has announced that in the future the broadcasts of this pilot channel will also be able to be followed in South America thanks to the coverage that the new Amazonas 4 will provide, launched in mid-March.

Other companies in the sector such as Dolby and Thomson participate in the Hispasat 4K project, also counting on Spanish Television in the production of some of the content that is exhibited.

It is worth noting that one more year, the Customer Engineering department of Hispasat will be present at the conferences organized within the framework of this event with a talk under the title 4K Arrives! A Perspective from a Real UHDTV Broadcasting Experience, which will take place on Wednesday, April 9 at the convention center.
