Two films co-produced by Telefónica Studios and Telefé will participate in Cannes 2014
'Relatos Salvajes', co-produced with Telefé and directed by Argentine Damián Szifron, will compete for the Palme d'Or. 'El Ardor', also co-produced with Telefé, has been invited to participate in the Special Screenings section.
Wild Tales, a co-production of Telefónica Studios through the Argentine network Telefé, will compete at the 67th edition of the Cannes Film Festival to be held between May 14 and 25. Likewise, the film The Burn, also co-produced by Telefónica Studios through Telefé, has been invited to participate in the Special Screenings section, as reported by the Festival today.
Wild Tales is directed by Argentine Damián Szifron and stars Ricardo Darín, Oscar Martínez, Leonardo Sbaraglia, Érica Rivas, Rita Cortese, Julieta Zylberberg and Darío Grandinetti. With this film, Argentine cinema brings to Cannes a film that portrays the crisis of current society through six stories that combine violence and humor.
As to The Burn, directed by Pablo Fendrik, stars Gael García Bernal and Alice Braga. It is an innovative action and adventure film that takes place in the Amazon. It tells the story of a young wandering shaman who arrives at a tobacco plantation where a father lives with his daughter. Some deforestation mercenaries will raid the farm and murder the father before the eyes of the young woman they kidnap.
With both co-productions, Telefónica Studios reinforces its intention to offer quality films and the purpose of consolidating itself as a major player in the international market. In this sense, Telefónica Studios has already been present in such outstanding productions as The Secret in Their Eyes, The Adventures of Tadeo Jones, Grand Piano o football, among others.
