About thirty films, balance of the first year of Telefónica Studios
During the coming months it will extend its productions to several countries in Latin America and Europe.
Telefónica Studios, Telefónica's global audiovisual content production company, celebrates one year with nearly 30 feature films produced and with numerous projects aimed at promoting both established initiatives and new filmmakers.
This year Telefónica Studios has been focused on production in Spain and Argentina and the forecast for this new year is to expand to other countries in Latin America and Europe in which Telefónica has a presence with the intention of being truly global.
In one year Telefónica Studios has produced 27 films, exceeding initial forecasts. Some of the featured titles are Foosball, Kamikaze, A Night in Old Mexico, El Ardor y Grand Piano, productions that have sold just over 21 million tickets. The most recent premiere in which Telefónica Studios has participated as a producer is Torrent 5 with Santiago Segura and Alec Baldwin.
Currently, the production company has twelve films pending release, among which are the second part of Tadeo Jones; catch the flag; Regression, Alejandro Amenábar's latest film starring Emma Watson and Ethan Hawke; Wild Tales, produced by Telefé, a Telefónica group company; Palm trees in the snow with the performance of Mario Casas; Losing the North, the next film by director Nacho García Velilla with Carmen Machi and Javier Cámara and Anacleto, secret agent, adaptation of the famous comic starring Imanol Arias.
In addition, Telefónica Studios is committed to supporting new filmmakers who provide an international vision of Spanish cinema, especially in genre films, such as In exchange for nothing, the debut feature of actor Daniel Guzmán starring Luis Tosar, or Welcome to Harmony, the English-language debut of Miguel Ángel Vivas, starring Matthew Fox.
As Axel Kuschevatzky, director of Telefónica Studios, highlights, "today more than ever, viewers are looking for high-quality entertainment and we know that we are in a privileged position to provide it. But at Telefónica Studios we are not just mere financiers. We like to get involved in all the creative aspects of the project and build original production."
On the other hand, Telefónica Studios' first foray into television is notable with the production of two series, Victor Ros e Isabel, which have also represented a novelty in Spain in the traditional way of releasing a series: both have been offered for the first time to Movistar TV clients before their broadcast on general television.
