Ericsson opens the doors to a new era of entertainment and connectivity
Ericsson is presented for the first time at BIT Broadcast with all its potential to carry out system integration and audiovisual services for broadcasters, media companies and operators.
According to the macro-study “Media Vision 2020” that Ericsson has been carried out, the consumption of on-demand TV will equal that of live broadcasting in 2020. On those dates, more than 8,000 million users will enjoy mobile broadband and 1,500 million homes will have digital television. The vision of the Networked Society will be a fact with more than 50,000 million connected devices, of which 15,000 million will allow access to multimedia content and will circulate over IP networks dominated by video traffic.
Starting from these premises, Ericcson's strategic vision, which these days he shares with the professionals who visit BIT Broadcast 2014, describes how television and the media sector will evolve in the next six years and shows that the TV industry will be valued at around 750,000 million in 2020.
Ericsson is presented for the first time at this fair with all its potential to carry out system integration and audiovisual services for broadcasters, media companies and operators.
Chema Casaos, director of Solutions and Services at Ericsson Iberia, acknowledges to Panorama Audiovisual that one of the company's main objectives is "to offer an ecosystem so that the consumer can enjoy a simple and enriched experience and so that, on the other hand, production companies and broadcasters can manage their projects in an agile and simple way. At Ericsson we work so that when a user requests a video on any device, it is delivered with the highest quality and, on the other hand, the producer or broadcaster has all the necessary tools for acquisition, exchange, management and distribution.”
At BIT Broadcast, Ericsson shows new products for compression, distribution and encoding, highlighting virtual encoding in the cloud and the use of unmanaged networks.
Under study and contribution, Ericsson's proposal for a fully IP environment capable of managing hundreds of signals and networks.
Ericsson is carrying out numerous demos and workshops for clients, among which the connection with Atlanta through Watchpoint, the only platform that allows multi-screen and multi-platform distribution, stands out; or the Ericsson Mediaroom demo, which is used by 13 million users around the world and which allows content providers to generate new revenue and retain their users.
Finally, it should be noted that after the purchase of Red Bee Media, Ericsson intends to take its broadcasting services business to the next level and expand its global presence... and every day, millions of people on all continents watch television programs prepared, managed and broadcast by Ericsson. The company was a pioneer in video compression technologies that now, applied to media and broadcast environments, are driving digitalization in television, allowing new experiences such as high definition, television anywhere or Ultra High Definition.
