The new 1F will serve as a replacement for Hispasat 1D and will provide the satellite operator with additional capacity in America, Europe and North Africa. It will be the group's third satellite built by the American manufacturer.

Hispasat has chosen Space Systems/Loral (SSL) for the manufacture of Hispasat 1F, which will be located in the 30º West orbital position. This satellite will replace 1D and provide the group with additional Ku-band capacity for the Andean and Brazilian regions. Likewise, with the Hispasat 1F, transatlantic capacities will be expanded in its Europe-America and America-Europe connectivities and Ka-band capacity with European coverage will be added so that HISPASAT continues to increase its broadband services in the region.

Hispasat 1F has an expected useful life of 15 years and will be built on SSL's 1300 satellite platform. It will have a power of 11.5 kilowatts and a multi-mission payload distributed in 48 Ku-band transponders, which will provide service in three coverage areas Europe and North Africa (Iberian Peninsula, Balearic Islands, Canary Islands, Azores, Cape Verde and Madeira; Mauritania, Morocco, Mediterranean countries in northwest Africa and most of the European continent visible from 30º West), Pan America (from Canada to the Patagonia, excluding Brazil) and South America (covering most of the continent, especially Brazil).

It will also have six Ka-band beams, with coverage in the Iberian Peninsula, Balearic and Canary Islands, northwest Africa and southeast and central Europe, a BSS Ka-band beam, with coverage centered on the Iberian Peninsula and another C-band beam, with coverage centered in Brazil.

The CEO of Hispasat, Carlos Espídos, has recognized that the company has once again trusted SSL "for the high quality and reliability of its products. SSL has given us a compelling opportunity to work together again. We are convinced that its 1300 platform is the most suitable for the high performance with which Hispasat has designed the Hispasat 1F. And we are pleased to see that SSL, a leader in the manufacture of geostationary satellites, uses Spanish components in almost all of its products. satellites.”

For his part, John Celli, president of SSL, stated that "Hispasat 1F is the third satellite that SSL has manufactured for Hispasat and we are pleased to welcome them back to our facilities. Our companies share the same way of focusing on the pursuit of quality, reliability and value, and we are going to work together again to build an excellent satellite."

The 1300 platform can accommodate a wide range of payloads for commercial communications satellites and has extensive experience in orbit as a guarantee of its high reliability; In fact, Hispasat 1F will be the group's third satellite built from it.
