Nagra makes the connected home a reality at ABTA 2014
Nagra will present the Brazilian implementations of its HTML5 Connectware and OpenTV 5 technology at the Brazilian Pay TV Association (ABTA) Exhibition and Conference. NAGRA's Quick Start solution includes pre-integrated SmarDTV devices that enable rapid time-to-market of OTT services to pay TV operators.
Nagra will make the connected home a reality at the 2014 Brazilian Pay TV Association (ABTA) Exhibition and Conference, taking place August 5-7, 2014 at the Transamerica Exhibition Center in São Paulo, Brazil. Visitors to the Nagra booth will be able to experience the company's latest HTML5 Connectware implementations, OpenTV 5, as well as its new rapid-to-market solution that accelerates innovations for pay-TV service providers.
Thierry Martin, Nagra's regional director for South America, was excited to "present our recent Brazilian implementations of OpenTV 5 and the reality of the connected home at this year's ABTA, allowing subscribers in Brazil to be among the first in the world to actually live this experience. The connected home has been talked about for a long time and is now available to the public through several pay TV service providers in Brazil and the rest of the world."
At the show, Nagra will also present its QuickStart solution, which offers pre-integrated SmarDTV devices for rapid time-to-market of new services and applications on any TV, including on-demand and live value-added (OTT) content. The solution enables service providers to monetize their network and assets quickly and effectively by incorporating all of Nagra's latest technologies, including: Hollywood-approved Digital Rights Management (DRM) solution and Nagra content protection: Nagra Persistent Rights Management (PRM); OpenTV 5 HTML5 Connectware and user experience capabilities; and the cloud services platform and Nagra MediaLive.
Martin adds that "with Nagra's QuickStart, service providers can begin monetizing their assets in ten days or less and enable advanced services such as video-on-demand (VOD), transactional VOD, subscription VOD, plus external PVR and network PVR capabilities. Additionally, as a 'ready to deploy' solution, it makes use of the provider's existing infrastructure and requires no additional investments."
Finally, SmarDTV will introduce its CI Plus conditional access modules (CAMs), easy-to-use plug-in devices that allow consumers to access premium channels directly on their televisions without the need for an encoder or additional cables. These CI Plus modules work with the original TV remote control and are a cost-effective solution for operators in the subscription acquisition or analog-to-digital phase.
Thierry Martin, Regional Director for South America, will speak at the ABTA 2014 conference on Tuesday, August 5 at 9am in a session called Hacemos del hogar conectado una realidad.
