Additionally, the Brazilian operator, a subsidiary of Telefónica, has begun tests to demonstrate the ability to provide a 4K experience in Brazil.

With more content available for video devices than ever before, maximizing its delivery across sufficient bandwidth and multiple networks is vital to the success of current and future TV consumer experiences. Ericsson's AVP 4000 is based on the first professional video chip promoted by this company. It makes it easier for both broadcasters and TV service providers and telecommunications operators to achieve greater speed and efficiency in the deployment of new video services, always with the objective that they respond to the demands and needs of the consumer.

Rafael Sgrott, Director of Video and Content at Telefónica Vivo, highlighted that "we are excited by the growing demand for innovative TV experiences and the countless opportunities this generates, so it is vital that the new TV visual offering we offer to viewers is of the best possible quality. We are pleased to have the expertise and experience of Ericsson in this important challenge. Addressing all applications, codecs, resolutions and profiles, Ericsson's AVP platform facilitates the integration, expansion, training, repair and upgrade, which contributes to considerably reducing the total cost. This equipment also offers the highest performance with a wide capacity in the industry in a single platform, covering all applications from standard definition, HD 1080p50/60, 3DTV and UHDTV and all codecs, including MPEG-2, MPEG-4 AVC and JPEG 2000.

Programmable video processing chip

The AVP 4000 compression platform is the result of the first local development of a programmable video processing chip. The agreement with Telefónica Vivo represents the first deployment of the chip in the Latin American market and a clear example of the industry's recognition of its power as a high-performance provider for processing videos. The chip provides the performance and control required to develop and implement the necessary algorithms to achieve the highest bandwidth efficiency of any distribution network.
