Odeon Multicines chooses Dolby Atmos for eight of its movie theaters in Spain
The new installations will be carried out in Cuenca, Girona, León, Coruña, Avilés and Tres Cantos.
Odeon Multicines plans to equip eight of its screens with the latest surround sound technology for cinemas Dolby. Cuenca, Girona, León (two rooms), A Coruña, Avilés and Tres Cantos (two rooms) are the towns that will be able to enjoy movies with Dolby Atmos sound. In this way, the chain's commitment to innovation is confirmed, in order to offer its customers the entertainment experience with the most cutting-edge cinema technology on the market.
With the incorporation of the Odeon Multicines theaters there will now be more than twenty-five theaters equipped with Dolby Atmos technology in Spain, demonstrating that the exhibition sector in this country is committed to offering a differentiated and unique experience to its audience.
Dolby Atmos is a revolutionary sound format that has been widely welcomed by major studios, directors and exhibitors around the world. For this reason, 530 cinema screens have already been equipped with Dolby Atmos around the world, of which 150 are in countries in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), and in the following months it is planned to continue its expansion with more theaters to offer viewers the best sound experience for cinema.
In addition, Dolby Atmos is establishing itself as the preferred technology for directors and sound engineers since now, thanks to this new audio solution, they can place or move sounds anywhere in the cinema and even from the ceiling, which allows them to more easily capture their creative idea while increasing the realism and impact of each scene, making the audience feel as if they were immersed in the action of the film.
Javier Foncillas, general director of the Southern Europe region of Dolby Laboratories, highlighted that “in line with our business objectives for the region, thanks to joint work with exhibitors such as Odeon Multicines, who are committed to offering a unique experience to their audience, in six months we have seen how the number of screens with Dolby Atmos in Spain has multiplied.”
For his part, Luís Millán, manager of Odeon Multicines, adds that "cinema is spectacle, image and sound. Dolby Atmos marks a before and after in the perception of sound in a movie theater, the experience surrounds you and immerses you with what the audience enjoys from the movie in a way they cannot do anywhere else other than the cinema."
