Vodafone will offer Ultra High Definition next year
Nearly 1.8 million homes will be able to use the new high-speed service starting March 31, 2015. Six months later, the company hopes to increase this speed to almost 3 million homes. Among the first cities that will have a 200 Mbps connection, Koblenz, Saarbrücken and Wilhelmshaven stand out.
The 200 Mbps subscription that will offer 12 Mbps for downloads will cost 20 euros per month more than the 100 Mbps service (currently 39.90 euros per month).
In the first half of 2015, Vodafone will introduce the first Ultra High Definition set-top-boxes in Germany. The device developed by Broadcom, Cisco and Sagemcom will be the basis for all television receivers offered by Vodafone and Kabel Deutschland in the future.
The 4K service will feature Videoscape MediaHighway middleware and Cisco's Videoscape VideoGuard encryption system.
On the other hand, this fall, Vodafone will launch a package that will combine fixed line and mobile networks, allowing customers to navigate through the cable or LTE network at speeds of up to 100Mbps.
