Furthermore, the presentation of the Bilbao Bizkaia Film Commission has put the focus on the work of the Basque companies present at MIPCOM, 12 in total, which grouped under the Basque Audiovisual brand, and with the support of the Provincial Council of Bizkaia, the Etxepare Institute and Eiken, have maintained multiple contacts in a busy agenda with distributors, broadcasters and international producers with a wide catalog of original products of all genres, from animation to documentaries, including for films, formats and new interactive products.

Basque companies maintain a continuous presence in Cannes, in one of the best locations of the Palais des Festivals, where potential buyers, distributors and co-producers attend each of the annual meetings to close agreements that allow the Basque audiovisual product to travel through screens in countries such as China, Russia, India, Canada, Peru or Turkey.

The combination of this continued, rigorous and successful work of Basque Audiovisual, together with the Bilbao Bizkaia be Basque strategy, has led to the selection of the Bilbao Bizkaia Film Commission to participate in the MIPCOM Official Program and present, together with cities such as London, Paris or Berlin, the details of the determined drive of the Bilbao City Council and the Provincial Council of Bizkaia to position themselves competitively in the filming economy.

“Bilbao Bizkaia as a global production hub” aims to carry out a collaborative strategy between the Sector and the Institutions to attract “world class” filming that contributes to the generation of wealth and the consolidation of the Audiovisual Sector and the rest of the Creative Industries thanks to the economic returns that this type of film, television and advertising filming provides.
