Barco and Iosono join forces to develop immersive audio in the film industry

Barco integrates German Iosono's technology into cinemas around the world, creating immersive experiences.

Barco Auro immersive sound roomBarco has joined forces with the German company Iosono in order to improve surround sound technology in movie theaters around the world.

Furthermore, in close collaboration with its partners Auro Technologies, Barco has already exceeded half a thousand installations with Auro 11.1 sound.

Productions such as Lucy, Into the Storm, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, The Amazing Spiderman 2, How to Train Your Dragon 2, Expendables 3 and Transformers: Age of Extinction, have been mixed with Barco's Auro 11.1 system.

Now, joining forces with Iosono will allow Barco to offer a wider range of features in surround audio systems.

Brian Claypool, Senior Director of Strategic Business Development at Barco, said: “Creating a standard format for surround sound is critical as it helps control costs for the content that is produced and distributed and will ultimately accelerate the adoption of surround sound around the world.”

For his part, Wilfried Van Baelen, CEO of Auro Technologies, comments that "being a pioneer in cinema sound is a privilege and an honor.
