The new generation of EOS Cine cameras combines an 8.3 megapixel Super 35mm CMOS sensor with a DIGIC DV 4 processor and a wide range of sensitivities ranging from ISO 320 to 102,400.

EOS C100 Mark II

Canon announced this Wednesday the expansion of its EOS Cinema System with the launch of the EOS C100 Mark II, its new professional camcorder with a large sensor. Heir to the EOS C100, the new EOS C100 Mark II promises to offer better image quality, greater creative flexibility, along with easier handling and the ability to share images wirelessly.

The EOS C100 Mark II, which incorporates technologies included in the range's flagship model, the EOS C500, incorporates a powerful imaging engine, capable of delivering high-level performance. The Canon EOS C100 Mark II combines an 8.3-megapixel Super 35mm CMOS sensor with a DIGIC DV 4 processor to deliver the rich colors and wide dynamic range typical of EOS Cine cameras, while a wide range of sensitivities from ISO 320 to 102,400 ensures outstanding performance, even in extremely low lighting conditions. The new camera also features a new image processing system that further improves its performance, reducing moiré and ghosting, resulting in sharper, clearer images.

The EOS C100 Mark II comes standard with Canon's pioneering Dual Pixel CMOS AF technology, which allows any user to focus easily and seamlessly switch between multiple subjects in a single shot. It also features Canon's Face Detection AF technology that allows for greater creative control through automatic recognition and focus tracking of faces.

More creative opportunities

The EOS C100 Mark II has two recording formats to adapt to the needs of different types of production. Dual format recording allows operators to simultaneously capture Full HD images in both MP4 (up to 35 Mbps) and AVCHD (up to 28 Mbps) formats, with recording speeds up to 60P. Users can also choose to record in high definition and normal definition to separate SD memory cards for maximum workflow flexibility and easy sharing of recordings. This range of options further expands the range of creative opportunities offered by the EOS C100 Mark II and makes slow motion or fast motion recording possible.

The built-in Wi-Fi connection, which was a first for the EOS Cine series, makes sharing images recorded with the camera now easier than ever, thanks to the ability to transfer files via FTP. In situations where fast transmission is necessary, such as news and event broadcasting, the Dual Recording Format allows operators to quickly share low-resolution SD files directly from the camera, with the security of retaining an HD copy.

Built-in Wi-Fi

Thanks to its compact and robust design, the EOS C100 Mark II is ideal for recording in a wide range of productions, especially those where only one camera operator is recording. Browser-based camera control via built-in Wi-Fi and compatible with Canon's RC-V100 multifunctional remote control allows you to place the camera in places you wouldn't have thought of before, allowing the film crew to maintain creative control, even in the most awkward and challenging situations.

The screen of the EOS C100 Mark II has been redesigned and can now be opened laterally, which increases monitoring possibilities, allowing users to frame the scene even from in front of the camera. The new OLED display displays images with higher contrast, richer colors and faster response times, even in bright conditions. The camera also features an improved tilting electronic viewfinder (EVF) and larger eyepiece, resulting in greater flexibility and precision while recording. Additionally, a microphone with professional audio features is built into the camera handle, as well as a new microphone integrated into the camera body, allowing for continuous sound recording in the smallest possible camera configuration.
