Canon expands the multi-camera setup of its XF605 camcorder

Latest camcorder firmware update Canon XF605 optimizes workflows and improves recording quality in response to user feedback and requests.

The new firmware 1.0.1.1 offers a higher efficiency for broadcast professionals and more versatility in recording options for content creators using the XF605, a professional broadcast camcorder designed for those who record alone.

To meet the growing demand for remote and live productions, this latest firmware update adds the XC protocol from Canon, making it possible to work with the XF605 together with other compatible Canon equipment within a multi-camera system.

The camera allows you to control the ISO sensitivity, aperture, Custom Picture Profile (Custom Picture) and autofocus (AF) of all cameras from a single point.

The new firmware version also includes a new 4K Intra 60P/50P recording option, along with the XF-AVC Intra 410 Mbps, to create a lightweight, high-quality codec that helps minimize storage and speed up file transfers.

Improved video features

Through the function of Dual Pixel CMOS AF autofocus from Canon, users will now be able to enjoy the benefits of AF for Face and Eye Detection and tracking when recording fast and slow motion actions, perfect for recording activities that happen quickly.

In addition, the new firmware also adds the possibility of vertical recording, a feature first seen on the EOS C70. This is great for content creators who need to shoot in 4K in portrait format. To make it easier to record in portrait format, the screen and on-screen menu change their orientation.

With a camcorder designed for professionals working alone and with small teams, such as when recording outdoors, firmware 1.0.1.1 gives operators the ability to monitor all four audio channels through the measurement information on the screen. Users can now select Assignable Button 11 as the record button, ideal for professionals recording with a tripod or in portrait orientation. A function has also been added that allows you to maintain the selected recording mode while changing from standard mode to slow or fast recording.
