The European Commission has authorized the purchase without conditions of the American manufacturer of digital cinema solutions Doremi by his rival Dolby. Brussels understands that the operation will not have a negative impact on competition in the community market despite the overlap between the activities of the two companies in the field of manufacturing digital cinema servers.

The Commission considers that this purchase will not generate competition problems due to the presence of alternative suppliers, the rapid evolution of the market and the ease of customers changing suppliers.

The Community Executive has further confirmed that there will be no anti-competitive conglomerate effects caused by the combination of the parties' activities in the domain of the production of digital cinema servers and audio processors for digital cinema.

The operation was notified to Brussels on September 25 following a request from the Spanish competition authority, which was later joined by its British counterpart.
