The European Commission has finally given the green light to the purchase valued at 2.7 billion dollars of the multinational specialized in networks 3Com by Hewlett Packard.

Before HP's purchase of 3Com, Europe had shown certain reservations about its impact on the business networking segment in which both companies are present in businesses related to switchers and routers.

Finally, the European Commission has given the green light to an operation valued at around 2.7 billion dollars, understanding that it will not have a direct impact on competition since the company resulting from this merger will continue to have strong competition from third parties. For Brussels, the operation will not have any conglomerate effect on the IT network computing markets.

When closing the purchase at the end of November, HP argued its intention to gain presence in China and add 3Com to its network services portfolio. In the official statement Dave Donatelli, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Servers and Networking at HP stated that “customers are looking for new ways to free themselves from the business limitations of having a single supplier,” in clear reference to the number one in networking equipment, Cisco.
