IFT gives the green light to the purchase of TVI by Televisa

Televisa already owns 50% of the company and the regulator now authorizes it to acquire the participation that Grupo Multimedios has.

TelevisaThe Federal Telecommunications Institute (IFT) has given the green light to the purchase of International Television (TVI) by Televisa.

Televisa already owns 50% of the company and the regulator now authorizes it to acquire the participation held by the Multimedios group under a series of conditions.

Emilio Azcárraga's company acquired the stake in TVI (Cablevisión Monterrey) in 2006. For this operation, certain conditions were imposed, such as the prohibition of including managers in other firms in the sector.

The regulator now accepts that the Televisa group acquires the participation that the Multimedios group has in TVI as long as it accepts and complies with the conditions within the established deadlines.

Both companies provide telecommunications, television, radio and broadband services.
