'Loreak', RNE Sant Jordi Cinematography Award for the best Spanish film
The film directed by José María Goenaga and Jon Garaño, has been chosen best film in the 59th edition.
The jury of the RNE Sant Jordi Cinematography Awards made public this afternoon the decision of the awards presented each year by RNE Catalunya. The flowers, directed by José María Goenaga and Jon Garaño and in which TVE participated, has been chosen best film in the 59th edition. Ingrid García Jonsson and Raúl Arévalo together with Javier Gutiérrez have been considered best actress and best Spanish actors.
The award for the best Spanish film has gone to The flowers, a film shot in Basque that deals with oblivion, loss and human communication. It is the story of three women who are altered by the mere presence of some flowers (“loreak”) that awaken forgotten feelings in them. The film has the support of TVE.
Ingrid García Jonsson won the award for best Spanish actress for 'Beautiful Youth', while the award for best Spanish actor went, ex aequo, to Raúl Arévalo and Javier Gutiérrez for their performance in The minimal island. The Sant Jordi for best debut film has gone to 10.000 KM by Carles Marqués-Marcet, also participated by Televisión Española.
In the international section, the film Her by Spike Jonze, has won the award for best foreign film. Tom Hardy for his performance in Locke and 'The Delivery' and Rosamund Pike for her role in Lost, are considered the best foreign actor and actress.
The jury, chaired by the film journalist Conxita Casanovas, from RNE, brings together the most representative critics and specialists of the seventh art in the media.
The RNE Sant Jordi Cinematography Awards also recognize an outstanding professional career in the world of cinema. Likewise, the Sant Jordi Prize for Industry is awarded in collaboration with the Generalitat of Catalonia. In addition, by vote of RNE listeners, the Rosas de Sant Jordi are awarded to the best Spanish and foreign films. The name of the winners of these awards will be known later, before the award ceremony to be held next April.
