The Community of Madrid launches for the first time a program to promote co-productions and foreign promotion of feature films produced in Madrid.

Window of the Madrid CinemaThe Community of Madrid and the Madrid Audiovisual Association (AMA), with the support of the Ministry of Culture, have launched the Madrid Cinema Window, an initiative aimed at promoting the co-production and foreign promotion of Madrid cinema that will be held on February 12, 13 and 14.

The Minister of Employment, Tourism and Culture, Ana Isabel Mariño, made this announcement yesterday during her speech at the Goya Awards Nominees Party held at the Teatros del Canal. Accompanied by the director of the Film Academy, Enrique González Macho, and in the presence of the 2015 Goya nominees and the president of AMA, Puy Oria, the counselor explained that with this initiative, AMA and the Community of Madrid want to disseminate the best of Madrid cinema, which will gain presence abroad in addition to favoring contacts for future co-productions, the establishment of alliances between film professionals from different countries or the attraction of foreign investments through filming in the Community.

The Madrid Cinema Window aims to become an important meeting point that each year will bring together in the region a delegation of professionals from countries interested in Madrid film production, in order to promote collaboration and co-production possibilities with up to 15 previously selected audiovisual projects. Chosen at the proposal of AMA for its interesting incentives for production and for the optimal moment that both films are going through, the guests for this first edition are Bogotá (Colombia) and Stockholm (Sweden), whose delegations have already confirmed their visitors for this meeting.

The first Madrid Cinema Window will also host the presentation of the Catalog of Films produced by Madrid companies, an annual digital publication that in 2014 includes more than a hundred titles shot with the participation of companies in the region, and that will allow us to see the evolution and characteristics of cinema made in Madrid.

Currently there are 455 companies dedicated to audiovisual production in the Community of Madrid whose activity is key in the national panorama, generating 49% of the total production of the sector in Spain.
