Avid Announces Flexible Licensing and Cloud Collaboration for Pro Tools

Recent innovations give professionals more options to purchase and deploy their tools, collaborate with others, and get more exposure for their work.

Avid has introduced the new Pro Tools 12 at NAMM 2015. With new flexible licensing options, Pro Tools 12 delivers on Avid's commitment to giving its users more options. The company also announced other innovations to support artist collaboration and content distribution with the Avid Cloud Collaboration service, as well as new services in the Avid Marketplace.

Flexible licenses

Pro Tools 12 offers new flexible licensing options starting at about $30 per month, as well as the option to purchase the app. With these new options, users can stay up to date with future innovations and software updates, right when they are available in the cloud, at no additional charge. Now, these flexible licenses give artists access to the same tools used by the industry's top professionals, at a price they can afford.

Cloud collaboration

The Avid Cloud Collaboration service (initially accessible to Pro Tools users with later guest users joining) is a set of innovative collaboration capabilities that allow artists to compose, record, edit and mix sessions working with other Pro Tools users in the cloud, just as if they were all gathered in the same studio.

Users simply invite other artists to collaborate on a session using a built-in chat service, or find new collaborators through the new Avid Marketplace Artist Community. If the person you want to work with doesn't have Pro Tools, you can simply download Pro Tools First to start working together immediately.

Avid Marketplace

Avid Marketplace invites Pro Tools users to participate in a community of artists, purchase new apps and plug-ins as they need them, and easily store and share their work on a global platform.
The Avid Marketplace allows artists and professionals to find new talent and start new collaborative projects. With the Artist Community, any media professional or organization can search for the skills and specialties they need for a project, and begin a working relationship.

Plus, users can get apps and plug-ins immediately, boosting their creative tools as well as store and share their work with the world.

Avid also announced that 17 new plug-ins and nine new plug-in packages are now available for purchase in the Avid Marketplace and as purchases within Pro Tools. There are now over 60 plug-ins and packages available for purchase without leaving the app for Pro Tools First, Pro Tools and Pro Tools HD.
