The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and Unipublic have signed an agreement for the broadcast of the Vuelta Ciclista a España until 2020.
The common objective of both the EBU and Unipublic is to disseminate the Vuelta to the largest possible audience. Millions of fans will be able to follow the events of the champions of one of the most important Tours on the cycling calendar through the broadcast networks of Belgium (VRT), Holland (NOS), Norway (TV2), Denmark (TV2), or the United Kingdom (ITV) among others, and Eurosport, which covers 54 countries.
Produced and broadcast by Spanish Television, La Vuelta will also benefit from digital media exposure since the event will be broadcast on all digital media of the aforementioned sponsors (web, social networks, mobile applications).
Stefan Kürten, Director of Sport and Commercial Activities at the EBU, highlighted that "the EBU is delighted to extend its long-term collaboration with Unipublic and to propose, through its members and Eurosport, a comprehensive dissemination of La Vuelta in all European countries. The growing public enthusiasm for cycling encourages the EBU in its mission to offer major sporting events, as well as a wide variety of Olympic sports to the widest possible audience."
For his part, Yann Le Moenner, CEO of Unipublic, added that "with this agreement, La Vuelta will be able to count on maximum diffusion in the coming years that will reach a growing number of European cycling fans, both on the large general channels and on Eurosport."
