The great winner of the Goya awards considers that "there is a lot of creativity and projects in Andalusian cinema. It is not a new fact, what happens is that for fifteen years institutional support has allowed these pieces to be put together."

Alberto Rodriguez

Without a doubt, Alberto Rodríguez has been the great winner of the 29th edition of the Goya Awards with his minimal island, which after the accolade of the Academy will have a second chance in theaters, to which we must add that the film is now available on video on demand and on DVD. In any case, its director believes that “it is a film that must be seen on the big screen and heard on the big screen.”

Alberto Rodríguez's greatest satisfaction has been "the meeting with the public, the million or so viewers that we have had so far, and the impact it is having on social networks and on the street. I think that in general this year we have recovered part of the faith that the public had in Spanish cinema, not only with The Minimum Island but with all the films that have been this year and that have been very varied and very good."

The director considers that "there is a lot of creativity and projects in Andalusian cinema. It is not a new fact, what has happened is that for fifteen years institutional support has allowed us to put together those pieces that were already there working and creating. These awards should not mean the end of that support, which we continue to need."

Alberto Rodríguez studied image and sound at the Faculty of Information Sciences of the University of Seville. In 2000 he made his first feature film, The Pilgrim Factor. In 2005, his film, 7 Virgins, established him as one of the most interesting young directors on the Spanish film scene. In 2012, it premiered Group 7, with which he was nominated for 16 Goya awards, obtaining two awards. He has also worked on television, being the director of four episodes of the historical series Spain.
