Enrique González Macho resigns as president of the Film Academy
Antonio Resines will assume the acting presidency of the institution with Jufith Colell as vice president.
Enrique González Macho leaves his position as president of the Film Academy for strictly personal reasons, according to a statement from the institution. His resignation was presented this Thursday, at the meeting of the Academy's Board of Directors.
On May 24, 2014, González Macho was re-elected head of the Academy. In his second term at the head of the entity he was accompanied by the actor Antonio Resines and the director and screenwriter Judith Colell, who were elected to the positions of first and second vice president respectively.
The Board of Directors of the entity has decided to appoint Antonio Resines and Judith Colell as acting president and first vice president.
Enrique González Macho has an extensive career in the film industry, in which he began working at the age of 20, and was one of the introducers in Spain of the original subtitled versions. González Macho has experienced firsthand the crisis in the sector with the closure of most of its two hundred theaters and the end of the activity of his production company Alta Films.
