First images of the spectacular Eurovision 2015 stage
For this occasion, the festival organization has opted for a stage that reproduces the shape of an eye or a bridge, depending on how you look at it, 43 meters wide, 14 meters high and 22 meters deep with a great display of light.
The pace of work at the Wiener Stadthalle stadium in Vienna (Austria) begins to be frenetic so that everything is ready for the Eurovision Song Contest. The first semi-final is scheduled for next Tuesday, May 19, while the grand final will be on Saturday the 23rd.
For this occasion, the festival organization and ORF, as bropadcaster host, have opted for a stage that reproduces an eye or bridge shape, depending on how you look at it, 43 meters wide, 14 meters high and 22 meters deep.
A total of 1,270 pillars support a structure full of LEDs with color selection. In total, 3,225 linear meters of tube have been used to build this gigantic structure.
These LED trails are completed with a floor also illuminated by light points distributed in 450 LED panels and a 30x9 meter rear LED video wall. This screen can be moved mechanically to the center of the stage, according to production needs.
On certain occasions, a 45-meter metal grill with 300 LED strips will be mechanically placed at the edges of the stage, giving a greater sensation of depth.
The set design has brought together some of the best creative professionals in this world, including Prime Time Emmy winners Florian Wieder (producer and creative production designer) and Al Gurdon for the occasion. In addition to them, Kurt Pongratz will oversee the stage production as Senior Producer.
In his career, set designer Wieder has created the visual space for numerous musical and television productions, including 16 MTV Awards and two Eurovision Awards.
Also well-known artists such as Beyoncé, Jennifer López and U2 leave the design of their stages in their hands, with which they have won numerous awards.
For his part, Gurdon, who has collaborated with Wieder on several occasions, is a well-known lighting designer specializing in large televised music shows and other events.
These include the MTV Awards, the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2012 Olympic Games in London and two previous editions of Eurovision.
Based on this year's slogan, Building Bridges, the scenery features a large bridge that symbolizes the union between cultures, countries and people.
