Scenography project for the 61st Eurovision Song Contest

The 61st edition of the Song Festival of Eurovision It will be held this year at the Globen Arena in the Swedish city of Stockholm on May 10, 12 and 14, in which 43 countries will participate, equaling the record achieved in the 2008 and 2011 editions.

The STV network in charge of organizing the event has released the design of the stage that has been made by Frida Arvidsson and Viktor Brattström, the same ones who created the Eurovision Song Contest in 2013 held in Malmö (Sweden), and which has been defined by this Swedish television "as powerful and brave."

Using lighting as the main component to create depth, the Spanish representative, Barei, will have to defend the issue Say Yay! A stage characterized by its large dimensions and featuring a large LED wall.

"We want to do something that makes people wonder if that is really possible. The design includes an innovative LED wall that allows artists to interact and get inside. Normally an LED wall is simply a screen at the end of the stage. We have gone further and broken that concept, and we want to make it possible for artists to get inside it," says Vicktor Brattström.

As Frida Arvidsson comments, what has been sought with this spectacular space is “to try to make it possible to play with the stage and create optical illusions.”

A project that has been a creative challenge for its designers, as producer Sven Stojanovic explains. “The look is great, it gives us something we've never had before, and it gives us unlimited possibilities for each performance, but at the same time it forces us to think in a new way.”

This year's edition is celebrated under the motto Come Together which according to its organizers refers to the history of the Eurovision Song Contest, which unites the past and the present, each and every one of the countries that will participate. The motto is based on this year's logo, which is inspired by a dragon's tooth made up of several seeds, which symbolizes the union between countries.
