Sennheiser AVX: wireless microphones ready to use with camcorders
This new solution connects directly to the camera's XLR, where it automatically links to the microphone and turns on when the camera does.
Sennheiser has launched the new AVX wireless microphone series for video cameras. The compact AVX receiver plugs directly into the camera's XLR, where it automatically links to the microphone and turns on when the camera does. The system automatically adjusts the correct audio levels and transmits using a specially protected link in the free 1.9 GHz range.
This system does not require a license, as it automatically selects a suitable transmission frequency and makes all the necessary adjustments, thus facilitating its use.
AVX is equipped with adaptive power transmission, meaning the system always uses the power required to maintain a reliable connection between the microphone and the camera receiver. This not only provides a stable link, but also reduces battery power consumption, as does the auto wake/sleep feature.
The AVX receiver and transmitter are powered by special lithium-ion batteries, which can be recharged via a USB port. To avoid unpleasant surprises when filming for a long time, the transmitters display the amount of battery remaining.
For DSLRs with a jack audio input, AVX systems include an XLR-3 mini-jack adapter cable and the necessary mounting hardware to connect the receiver to the camera's hot shoe.
