With an intuitive and flexible workflow, the compact M-5000C offers all the flexibility and power of the M-5000 but with a smaller footprint.

Roland M5000C

Roland has announced the global launch of the O.H.R.C.A M-5000C digital mixer. This long-awaited console is the follow-up to the award-winning O.H.R.C.A M-5000 introduced earlier this year.

Measuring just under 74 centimeters wide and weighing just 32 kilograms, the compact M-5000C offers all the flexibility and power of the M-5000 but with a smaller footprint, making it the ideal choice for touring, broadcast, theater and live performances where size is a factor. The M-5000C can be seen at the next IBC in Amsterdam.

Using the same O.H.R.C.A (Open High Resolution Configurable Architecture) platform that has made the M-5000 so popular among audio engineers, the M-5000C offers a new dimension of configuration possibilities in consoles of this size and at an affordable price.

The O.H.R.C.A platform offers 128 freely user-definable audio resources, the possibility of communication with multiple protocols as well as a very flexible user interface, all offered at 24-bit/96KHz audio quality. This open architecture supports protocols such as Dante, MADI, Waves Sound Grid and REAC, as well as can embed/de-embed audio over video using SDI, DVI (HDMI) and SFP.

In addition to a 96KHz sampling rate, for superior audio quality; The M-5000C offers a 72-bit mix bus. In addition to 16 inputs and 8 outputs on the console itself, the M-5000C incorporates two expansion slots that can accommodate REAC, Dante, MADI, Waves Sound Grid as well as other XI series expansion cards.

Intuitive and flexible workflow

Intuitive and flexible workflow is key in the design of the M-5000C; with a host of user-centric features such as a 12-inch touchscreen controlled by 16 multipurpose potentiometers beneath it. The 16 faders (out of a total of 20), divided into two banks of 8 faders each, which can work together or isolated, can behave in 4 different ways; Horizontal scroll, Spill DCA, Anchors, and user-definable layers. The remaining 4 faders can be freely assigned to those channels or buses that the user deems necessary. The user also has 4 potentiometers and 8 buttons multiplied by 3 banks, which are also assignable by engineer for those functions that need to be accessed urgently.

The M-5000C naturally fits into Roland's extensive range of products; making it a potential part of the numerous installations and systems that currently operate around the world. In addition to an extensive range of stage boxes with multiple input and output options; It is also compatible with the M-48 personal monitor system which offers the musician the possibility to work on his monitor mix. By connecting the M-5000C to an M-48 system through the console's REAC ports, the engineer can very easily prepare premixes that the musicians will then control and can also edit and listen to what each musician is listening to remotely from the console. Finally, the R-1000 recorder offering 48 recording/playback channels is a very reliable recording solution for the M-5000C.
