Conecta joins the Council of the Television Academy

Eduardo Zulueta and Manuel Campo Vidal have sealed this agreement by which the institutions they preside over will collaborate jointly in the enrichment of the Spanish audiovisual panorama.

The Academy of Television Sciences and Arts and Conecta have signed an agreement for the incorporation of the association of thematic channels to the Academy Council. The objective is to collaborate jointly in the enrichment of the Spanish audiovisual panorama. The signing of the agreement was attended by the presidents of both entities, Eduardo Zulueta and Manuel Campo Vidal, and their respective vice presidents, Manuel Gil and Pepe Quílez.

Eduardo Zulueta has pointed out that "as an academic and president of Conecta, it seems to me of utmost importance that the channels that represent the best attributes of pay television in terms of quality, variety and creativity, are part of the Television Academy. Pay channels have always had a energizing effect on the audiovisual panorama of any country and it is necessary that they be integrated into this common space of television professionals that constitutes the Academy."

For his part, Manuel Campo Vidal has expressed his satisfaction with this agreement and has highlighted "the importance of strengthening the Television Academy, which with the arrival of Conecta represents all the television modalities present in the Spanish audiovisual panorama."

With its incorporation to the Council, Conecta will participate in the activities and promotions carried out by the Academy. For its part, the Institution will promote the presence of the association in the forums, events and events that it develops.

The Academy Council is the highest decision-making body of the Institution in which the Board of Directors participates and is made up of representatives of generalist networks, regional channels, digital platforms and copyright management entities. It constitutes a meeting point from which the quality, independence and autonomy of this medium is defended.

Established in 2007, the Conecta association brings together the main producers of thematic pay television channels in Spain. Specifically, it represents 36 thematic channels, belonging to 9 large international communication groups: AMC Networks International-Iberia, Canal Cosmopolitan Iberia, Fox International Channels Spain, Sony Pictures Television Networks Iberia, The History Channel Iberia, The Walt Disney Company Iberia, Time Warner Company, Universal Networks International and Viacom International Media Networks.

The Association seeks knowledge of the pay television sector in Spain and sponsors the development of the Spanish audiovisual industry. Also born with the desire to be a bridge between these companies and the advertising market, Conecta promotes the effectiveness of paid thematic channels between agencies and advertisers, with the aim of promoting investment.
