ECAM launches FilmNow, the first short film distribution catalog for students

This project of the School of Cinematography and Audiovisual of the Community of Madrid seeks to support new talents in Spanish cinema.

Nace FilmNow, the first distribution catalog of short films from film schools and universities in Spain, with the aim of becoming a showcase for emerging talent in our country, promoting the careers of the next generations of professionals in the Spanish film industry.

This project is born from the commitment of the ECAM, School of Cinematography and Audiovisual of the Community of Madrid, to contribute to the dissemination of short films made by students of audiovisual degrees. ECAM Distribución will be in charge of distributing the short films selected to be part of the FilmNow catalog. In the last ten years, the films included in the catalogs managed by ECAM Distribución have achieved more than 13,000 selections in national and international festivals and more than 2,000 awards.

Ismael Martin, head of ECAM Distribution, has highlighted that "in an international context in which more than 7,000 short films are moving through festivals and markets, it is essential to create projects that support new talents in Spanish cinema."

Film schools and universities with audiovisual degrees in Spanish territory may participate by presenting short films with a maximum duration of 20 minutes, with a production date after January 2014 and within their training activity.

Students enrolled or graduated from film schools and universities with audiovisual degrees may also apply, presenting written authorization from the corresponding school or university.

ECAM Distribution will carry out the following actions with all the short films selected within the FilmNow catalogue: registration in the most important short film markets in the world such as the Short Film Corner in Cannes or Clermont Ferrand; registration in international and national festivals. ECAM Distribution will be responsible for the registration and copy costs; creation of an HD viewing platform and its own web space with material and digital press-kit with download option.
