NEC demonstrates a clear commitment to correct color treatment in Ultra High Definition 4K environments
At an Open Day, NEC shows its proposals for large-format displays (65, 84 and 98 inches) and desktop monitors (32”) in Ultra High Definition 4K.
NEC Display Solutions Ibérica, with the collaboration of Tangram Solutions, LFP Consulting y 709 Media Room, organized this Thursday at the NEC Show Room in San Sebastián de los Reyes (Madrid) an Open House focused on color monitoring in 4K and UHD cinema.
The professionals who attended this event were able to discover some of the solutions that NEC offers for 4K Ultra High Definition environments for both cinema and television.
On large format 4K monitors, the X651UHD and X841UHD models have been exhibited in 65 and 84 inches. NEC also has a 98-inch 4K display. These models have the professional S-IPS panel with ultra high definition LED backlighting (3,840 × 2,160). Additionally, thanks to 10-bit color performance with surprising viewing angles and hardware-calibrated LUTs, they are a great option for spaces that require maximum color fidelity on a large-format display.

As far as desktop monitors are concerned, the 32-inch (PA322UHD) stands out with the possibility of integrating an HD-SDI card directly through an OPS slot. This feature makes them especially suitable for studio and post-production work in Ultra High Definition in film and television.
This monitor has ultra-high definition resolution (3,840×2,160), professional LED backlighting, and a 10-bit IPS LCD panel with IGZO technology.
Thanks to 10-bit color performance, it covers a wide gamut of 99% AdobeRGB, and the 14-bit LUT can be calibrated from the hardware for accurate image presentation.
During the presentation, colorist Luis Ochoa emphasized how it is not only necessary to have a good device but also know how to use it to get the most out of it. In his presentation he reviewed the basic concepts of 4K and color standards, highlighting that NEC complies with all of them.
It has also addressed the advantages that the software offers in terms of parameterization. SpectraView Profiler integrated into every NEC professional monitor.
Other aspects that have come up in this open day are those related to the usual configuration settings of a monitor for audiovisual color such as gamut, brightness, contrast, gain per channel, color temperature, gamma... Real monitoring scenarios for color in audiovisual have also been analyzed.
