This operation will allow Mantrics staff in Italy to work more closely with the SAM development team in the UK to continue the evolution of Momentum.

SAM Momentum

SAM has announced its intention to purchase Mantrics, an Italian company specialized in workflow improvement and asset management solutions. Mantrics was born in 2008 promoted by Digital Video and Video Progetti.

Neil Maycock, Executive Vice President of Marketing at SAM, acknowledges that "when we were looking to enter this market sector several years ago, after considerable research, we identified Mantrics technology as having the core capabilities we were looking for. It allowed us to enter the market in 2014 much more quickly than if we had developed from scratch."

One of the goals of Momentum is to improve complex workflows that involve different layers of coding and numerous scripts. Although there are simple simple interfaces on the market in which the user only has to drag and drop, however, these tend to focus on specific applications such as file delivery and are usually quite limited in their possibilities.

Maycock has assured that the SAM proposal solves these issues by allowing users to define and manage their own workflows through an intuitive user interface while allowing it to scale and manage complex real-world scenarios. Modern companies are not static as they are evolving rapidly and are very dynamic. “The ability for customers to grow to support different platforms and formats is vital when opting for Momentum scalability.”

Claudio Mattei, CEO of Digital Video, maintains that when his company decided to "invest in workflow management technologies, we started from a solid background in different professional markets. This experience, developed at a time when the broadcast industry still relied heavily on tape, has given us a significant competitive advantage. The sale of Mantrics to SAM is the next logical step to boost both the current development and sales of Momentum. It will also increase the speed of integration across the product portfolio of SAM We are proud of the working relationship we have developed with SAM and look forward to deploying our skills through other joint projects and products for the broadcast industry.”

Finally, Carlo Struzzi, CEO of Video Progetti, highlights that “we have worked very closely with SAM on their Momentum solution and decided to sell Mantrics in order to create a stronger market position with full integration into the SAM portfolio.”
