SAM will have a new range of SD/HD/4K multi-format production switchers in its portfolio. The new Kula switchers use Fusion3 Format technology to seamlessly mix any format, even 4K, eliminating the need for external conversion equipment.

Kula was created with the aim of making its installation simple and its operation efficient and fast, allowing professionals to focus on high-value creative tasks.

Capable of handling 4K/1080p/HD and SD in 1M/E and 2M/E versions, Kula allows production with multiple formats, ensuring the investment is future-proof. The 2 M/E HD/SD version can be changed to 1 M/E in 4K mode, allowing users to benefit from the higher production values.

Kula will currently be marketed with three control panels that can be expanded with additional control modules from the Kahuna range. Kula also offers up to five main layers per M/E, 20 DVE channels, floating/auxiliary keying capabilities, and up to 36 assignable inputs and 18 outputs, plus extensive internal clip storage.

Tim Felstead, director of product marketing at eb SAM, said: "Today's broadcasters are facing a challenging situation: content is being captured and delivered in a wider range of formats than ever before, all within the same production workflow. Kula addresses this need by drawing on Kahuna's heritage, with the ability to handle any format. In addition to this, we are seeing the creation of content that goes beyond a traditional broadcast scope, so there is a growing number “from companies that want to benefit from high production values in order to achieve the flexibility and on-screen results they desire.”
