Hispasat increases its total income by 8.7%
In 2015, the Spanish satellite operator achieved total revenues of 219.6 million euros. Its EBITDA margin remains above 80%.
The Spanish satellite communications operator, Hispasat, has managed to achieve a total income of 219.6 million euros in 2015, which represents an increase of 8.7% compared to the previous year.
EBITDA has reached 178.9 million euros, 10.6% more than in 2014, which represents an operating margin of 81.5%, a figure that once again indicates Hispasat's position. Hispasat increases its total income by 8.7% as one of the most profitable and efficient companies in the satellite sector. The net result attributed to the group's parent company was 62.6 million euros (17 million more than in 2014). Also noteworthy is the investment figure, which in 2015 reached 245 million euros, 56.5% more than the previous year, destined mainly to ongoing satellite programs (AG1, Amazonas 5 and Hispasat 1F), as well as to innovation projects both in satellites and in products and services.
Income from space capacity has also experienced growth, reaching 216.4 million euros, 9.72% more than in the previous year. Hispasat has benefited from the positive effect of the exchange rate, favored by the strength of the dollar, which has offset the strong depreciation of the Brazilian real.
By geographic area, 34.6% of the group's space capacity leasing revenue comes from Europe and North Africa, while 65.4% originates from the American market.
The commercial effort made has also resulted in the consolidation of a high back-log (secured contracting of long-term satellite capacity), which at the end of the year stood at a figure equivalent to seven times the company's annual revenue.
For Elena Pisonero, president of Hispasat, "the strategy developed by the company in 2015 has given good results and has allowed it to grow. In this year we have worked intensely and are committed to entering new markets, such as Morocco. We have obtained new orbital positions, closed alliances with other operators and renewed and expanded contracts with large clients, especially in Latin America, in countries such as Brazil, Peru, Mexico and Colombia."
