Augmented Reality Piero (Ericsson)

Piero Augmented Reality

Ericsson has launched Piero, an advanced software system for augmented reality that gives broadcasters the ability to optimize sports programming and create more immersive viewing experiences.

Piero Augmented Reality allows you to overlay 3D graphics in real time during live studio productions and sports broadcasts. Analysis graphs can be generated instantly either by a system operator or the presenter's own tablet. Graphics are projected in 3D onto the studio floor, allowing networks to illustrate analysis while maintaining the studio environment. This software is currently being tested by the BBC in its flagship football program Match of the Day.

TV and video-on-demand services, including metadata, images, real-time activation, analytics, 360-degree search and personalization, will be rolled out across the United States, Canada and Australia, as well as in Europe, where Ericsson is already the largest provider of such services. All of them are delivered through Ericsson's real-time API, offering global data through a
interface.
