The El Rocío pilgrimage, for the first time in 4K-UHD
Medina Media collects in 4K at 50 frames per second exciting images of the El Rocío pilgrimage, the most important in Spain and one of the most important in the world in terms of the number of pilgrims.
The pilgrimage to Rocío, the most important in Spain and one of the most important in the world in terms of the number of pilgrims, is being recorded these days by the Medina Media 4K cameras. This production will be titled El Rocío. the movie, a feature film that will offer for the first time a complete tour of the famous Andalusian pilgrimage recorded in Ultra High Definition.
The feature film, produced in 4K and at 50 frames per second, will have a duration of 90 minutes and will allow the viewer to learn about the different paths along which this pilgrimage takes place that converge in the Huelva village, as well as the milestones of the route and the traditions linked to this religious and popular manifestation. It is one of the Spanish celebrations of international tourist interest that attracts the most pilgrims, especially during the weekend in the village of Almonte (Huelva), where around a million people gather on the eve of the procession of the Virgin.
This year's Rocío is the rainiest in the last decade. The difficulties that the pilgrims face due to the torrential rains and the passionate spirit they demonstrate in putting a good face on bad weather will provide the documentary with a mix of drama and joy, faithfully reflecting how they experience this important pilgrimage.
The objective of this innovative and technological effort, in which Canal Sur has participated as co-producer, is that this celebration of international scope can be enjoyed worldwide through satellite channels, DTTs, fiber optics and any type of digital platforms that broadcast on any type of support (tablets, phones and other mobile devices) without limitations and always with the highest quality.
For this production, Medina Media 4K is using 4K cameras Sony PXW-FS7 and optics Canon 24-70mm 16-35mm y 70-200mm.
The documentary will be released in movie theaters in Andalusia in 2017 and will be broadcast on television on the eve of next year's pilgrimage. With this new project in 4K-UHD, Medina Media culminates a trilogy dedicated to three of its most famous festivals worldwide: the Carnival of Cádiz, Holy Week and El Rocío.
