BIT Innova, the highlights of what is presented at BIT 2016 in a product gallery

A gallery of novelties that highlights nine cutting-edge proposals from the sector, which have been selected by a professional jury, from among all those presented to this platform by the Fair's exhibitors.

The Professional Exhibition of Audiovisual Technology, BIT Broadcast 2016, organized by IFEMA from May 24 to 26 at Feria de Madrid, presents for the first time BIT Innova, a gallery of novelties that highlights nine cutting-edge proposals from the sector, which have been selected by a professional jury, from among all those presented to this platform by the exhibitors at the Fair.

The objective of BIT Innova is to offer participating companies a tool to support the communication and promotion of new products and services that are shown at the fair and that stand out for their innovative nature. An added value for exhibitors and visitors who will find in this selection of new products some of the most significant lines of progress that companies in the sector have been working on, both in terms of technology, design and functionalities.

Precisely, for the selection of these proposals the jury, made up of prestigious sector professionals, representatives of the prescribers and users of the products and experts in audiovisual technology, has assessed the improvements in terms of the degree of innovation; the ease of its integration into systems; the ease of learning and use, as well as its functionality and applications.

Solutions to improve the quality of audio broadcasts on radio and TV; an advanced connectivity system for High Speed ​​trains; a real-time virtual studio application that allows, among other things, to convert the presenter into a 3D object within the virtual set; a Cloud Computing service that offers the user the opportunity to have any video streaming product anywhere and anytime; an end-to-end data analytics platform that covers the analytics needs of any video content provider; an “all-in-one” device developed for video assistance in all types of filming; a family of encoders and decoders that offers a complete set of functionalities, and a hardware encoder for live news coverage, of reduced size and weight, which makes it possible to dispense with mobile units and other equipment, are the proposals highlighted in this first edition of BIT Innova.

• Phoenix Alio, portable IP audiocodec for high quality audio broadcasts on radio and television. AEQ (Booth – 14C02)

It has been designed for broadcasts of high audio quality and very low delay, with mono or stereo operation in program sending and return and option, activatable by license, of a second communication channel, mono or stereo, for technical coordination or backup, ideal for TV. It has individual bass and treble control adjustment for each input channel, adapting the particularities of each speaker's voice, or correcting defects in the external signal. In addition to the high-performance OPUS algorithm, Phoenix Alio incorporates the coding algorithms required by the EBU-TECH 3326 standard to communicate with third-party codecs, and the proprietary low-delay AEQ LD Extend algorithm to communicate with other AEQ codecs that do not have OPUS algorithms. It has (free) software for remote control that is integrated into the Phoenix Control application, common with other AEQ Phoenix codecs, facilitating configuration, audio routing, channel selection, transmission mode and coding algorithm, showing in VUmeters the incoming and outgoing audio levels to each codec. In addition, the ALIO incorporates a sound mixer window that allows you to remotely regulate the volume and tonality of each sound source, as well as select the sources that are sent to each output.

• On The Move connectivity system for high-speed rail environment. Aicox Solutions (Stand 14C05)

This is a technical solution that INDRA, Aicox and Hispasat have developed, intended to be integrated into a global solution for the provision of connectivity and on-board entertainment services via satellite, for High Speed ​​trains. It proposes the use of a small satellite antenna, compatible with all models of high-speed trains operating in Spain and a satellite platform optimized for railway conditions in high-speed trains. The satellite system allows us to provide an Internet service, in-flight entertainment and, above all, video streaming, which would not be possible without it. The complete solution is available for the Telco operator to integrate easily and quickly with its 3G/4G network and with the content available to offer the train operator.

• Infinity Set. Brainstorm Multiemedia (Stand 14D08A)

Infinity Set is a real-time virtual studio application. Its TrackFree base technology, exclusive to Brainstorm, allows it to carry out a large part of the camera movements and display a depth of field similar to that of traditional tracking systems on the market, but at the cost of a trackless system and with the same ease of use. TrackFree allows, among other things, to turn the presenter into a real 3D object within the virtual set (instead of being a simple 2D projection, as is the case in other developers), thereby adding volume to the presenter, making it interact with other 3D objects and being projected as augmented reality in real environments.

• C21 Live Cloud. Cires 21 SL (stand 14A09)

C21 Live Cloud is a Cloud Computing service that offers the user the opportunity to access any Cires21 video streaming product anywhere, anytime. Not only does it allow the provision of virtualized Cires21 products in the cloud, but this service adapts to any business model thanks to its integration with on-site platforms made up of appliances or software, adapting to coding needs. The ease of immediate sizing of any Cires21 product and the possibility of paying per use or flat rate allows us to provide new experiences in multi-device streaming. Among its innovative aspects, the ability to encode, record, edit, decode and monitor its audiovisual content stands out so that it can be viewed on any device with the best quality.

• Integrated Video Insights (IVI). Ericsson España (Stand 14C01)

It is an end-to-end data analysis platform, aimed at the audiovisual industry and focused on improving two aspects of any audiovisual content provider. The operational and the commercial and marketing. Its innovation lies in the provision of a multi-domain solution, which covers the analytics needs of any video content provider in any segment, whether OTT, IPTV, cable, satellite or terrestrial television, and in that it can be integrated with other sources of data from other domains, thus achieving a granularity and a much more detailed level of analytics.

• Ovide Smart Assist. Ovide (Stand 14B23)

Ovide Smart Assist equipment has been developed for video assistance in filming films, advertising, video clips, documentaries, etc. They are “all-in-one” equipment that can be transported to any filming set comfortably and without extra accessories. They work with QTake, the most used video assistance software in the film industry (developed by the company In2Core).

• Avantos encoders. Sapec (stand 14B25)

The Avantos VHE5210/VHD5210 family of HEVC/H.265 encoders and decoders offers a comprehensive feature set including support for 4:2:0 and 4:2:2 8-bit and 10-bit interlaced and progressive SD and HD formats. Its compression efficiency, with high perceptual quality thanks to the use of HEVC Main, Main10 and Main 422 10 profiles, as well as its very low latency, allows operators and broadcasters a strong reduction in their operating costs by allowing a reduction in bandwidth by up to 50%. Its features are completed with extensive support for audio codecs, MPEG-1 LII, AAC, DD, DD+, as well as complete connectivity with IP (FEC SMPTE 2022) and DVB-ASI interfaces, becoming the most efficient solution for use on DVB and ATSC platforms.

• Smart-telecaster Zao H265. Star Comunicaciones (Stand 14A25)

The Zao H265 smart-telecaster from Soliton is the first H265 hardware encoder to be launched on the global market. For live news coverage, thanks to its very small size and weight and its extraordinary characteristics, it allows you to do without the hitherto essential mobile units, expensive satellite connections or the most recent portable equipment, which is still quite heavy and has limited features. The Zao and the HDView definitively break this barrier, allowing you to transmit through professional broadcast channels even from an iPhone, always maintaining FullHD video quality. To ensure confidentiality and ensure an optimal level of security in transmission, it allows data encryption using the AES 256bit protocol. In addition, it can be transported comfortably in a small backpack in complete safety, since the equipment is anchored internally to prevent any movement inside. This gives the cameraman freedom of movement and allows him to transport the encoder in operation with the modems connected and along with all the accessories.

• VSNExplorer integrated with Microsoft Azure Media Services. VSN (Booth 14C11)
