Sony introduces new line of next-generation products, solutions and services at IBC 2019
Among the new features are updated IP Live solutions, the new E-mount interchangeable lens camcorder, FX9, with a Full-Frame sensor and the new PXW-Z750, an XDCAM shoulder camera with a 4K type 2/3 3-chip CMOS sensor system with global shutter.
As has become traditional, the first day of IBC, Sony presents its latest proposals for the media, film and entertainment industry. As a novelty, at its stand (Hall 13) we can find updated IP Live solutions, two HDCE-TX30 / HDCE-RX30 IP extension adapters, the E-mount FX9 interchangeable lens camcorder with a Full-Frame sensor recently developed for documentary filming, an FE C 16-35mm T3.1 G cinema lens, as well as the PXW-Z750, an XDCAM shoulder camcorder with a 4K type 2/3 3-chip CMOS sensor with global shutter and additional models to the DWX series digital wireless microphone system.
At the heart of the stand is a 6K x 3K glass LED display system (CLED), displaying stunning images with exceptional image quality.
A key point to highlight will also be the set of services and microservices of Intelligent Media Services, recently created. These support media companies in transforming traditional supply chains, unlocking more value from content for greater audience engagement and helping them evolve into more agile organizations.
Pushing the limits with IP
Working with broadcasters around the world, Sony has developed aadvanced live IP production and has delivered more than 60 IP studies and mobile units to clients such as Euro Media Group, DPG Media, NEP Australia and SIC Portugal.
The updated IP Live line continues to drive efficiency and increase customers' return on investment by optimizing resource sharing and creating remote production environments.
Among the new features, two stand out IP extension adapters, HDCE-TX30 / HDCE-RX30, which transform the current HDC series of SDI system cameras into video-enabled cameras. IP con interfaz SMPTE ST 2110. Thanks to their compact size, one-third the standard width, IP Extension Adapters offer advanced IP Live remote production and resource sharing, creating new and efficient workflow patterns for existing HDC system cameras.
It is also worth not losing sight of two new panels of control remoto (MKS-R4020 / MKS-E1620) that further reinforce the reliability, speed and precision of commands through Live Element Orchestrator; and the optional PWSK-4509 interface card enabling SMPTE ST 2110 support for the PWS-4500 live production server.
Agreement with Nevion
Earlier this year, Sony and Nevion signed a strategic collaboration agreement. Together, Nevion and Sony aim to provide customers with the expertise and products (both equipment and systems) necessary to create tailored solutions for efficient and modern, forward-thinking live production operations. At IBC, together with United Broadcast, a subsidiary of Euro Media Group (EMG), and CenturyLink, Sony is organizing a demonstration of the end-to-end IP Live total solution, connecting the Sony booth (A10 / Hall 13) with the Nevion booth (B79 / Hall 1) and a remote IP production studio in Hilversum. The demonstration will highlight the enormous potential that IP-powered remote productions and resource sharing can have for media organizations.
Sony has expanded its range of production solutions with the launch of the HKCU-REC55, an option card for Sony's HDCU-5500 and HDCU-3500 camera control units (CCUs) that offers the industry's first on-board recording capabilities. Real-time file transfer to NAS for post-processing while recording, as well as file transfer to a USB drive, ready to be deleted and shared as soon as live production is finished. Additionally, simultaneous 4K HDR and HD SDR recording strongly supports the “SR Live for HDR” workflow.
As for the HDCU-5000 in a 19-inch 3U full rack-size CCU compatible with most current HDC camera systems, including HDC-5500, HDC-3500, HDC-3100, HDC-2500, HDC-2400, HDC-1700, BPU-4000 and BPU-4500A. The CCU supports all interfaces necessary for 4K and HD production, including SMPTE ST2110 in 4K and HD, as well as a maximum of 8x 12G-SDI and 8x 3G-SDI output. High frame rate (HFR) over IP will be supported, as well as the ability to record onboard in the future (option) to increase the efficiency of the live production system.
PXW-FX9
In this IBC The multinational has surprised with the presentation of the new PXW-FX9.
Your first camcorder XDCAM with an advanced full 6K image sensor and a system of Fast hybrid autofocus (AF) aims to offer content creators greater creative capabilities to capture stunning images that truly resonate with audiences. The camera stands out for a series of enhanced features compared to its FS7 series successors such as 16 bit output, S-Cinetone o Electronic Variable ND Filter.
Building on the success of the PXW-FS7 and PXW-FS7M2 models, the FX9 uniquely combines high mobility with an advanced AF system, stunning bokeh and slow motion functions thanks to its newly developed sensor. The FX9 also inherits its color science and Dual Base ISO 800/4000 from the Venice digital cinema camera and represents the ultimate tool of choice for documentaries, music videos, theater productions and general event shooting.
PXW-Z750
An XDCAM shoulder camcorder with 4K 2/3 type 3-chip CMOS sensor system with global shutter technology to capture clear, sharp images while denying artifacts such as flash band and rolling shutter distortion. The PXW-Z750 offers higher sensitivity, less image noise and a wider color gamut and can record in HD/4K and HDR, as well as supporting slow motion up to 120fps in HD. To improve workflow efficiency, the camcorder also has a built-in wireless module and is compatible with Sony's cloud-based workflow service, XDCAM air. In addition, the PXW-Z750 can also be used with the latest DWX series digital wireless microphone system and offers greater ease of use, including synchronized power on and off, control via menu settings or assignable buttons, and audio information in the display via wireless audio solutions.
Artificial intelligence
Sone launches a video analysis solution based on artificial intelligence. With the REA-C1000, an edge analysis device and the manufacturer's first AI-based video analysis solution, it has been enhanced with new features available in the V2.0 update, such as chroma keyless CG overlay, which can extract presenters and overlay them on multiple layers of backgrounds without the need for a dedicated rear display or specialized training.
REA-C1000 is introduced with the latest generation of BRC-X400, SRG-X400 and SRG-X120 pan and tilt zoom cameras.
