Sapec presents its new HEVC equipment for UHD at BIT 2016

The first product in the new Avantos-UHD range is a professional HEVC decoder for UHD contributions with Full-Frame, Main422 and 10-bit decoding support.

On the occasion of his presence in BIT Broadcast 2016, Sapec is presenting for the first time in Spain the new line of products for Ultra High Definition, Avantos-UHD.

The first product in this family is a real-time HEVC decoder (ITU.H-265), which has been designed for UHD signal contributions in professional environments. By using the HEVC algorithms, UHD signal contributions with high efficiency, great image quality, and a high degree of compression are guaranteed.

The Avantos-UHD decoder allows for very high image quality UHD contributions by supporting the Main10 and Main422 profiles, both for 10 bits per pixel. The support of both profiles provides greater flexibility to the product, allowing its use both in Distribution environments (DTT, Satellite, IPTV...) and in contribution environments.

In particular, the support of the Main422 format allows making contributions with very high image quality, and performing multi-generation (multiple encoding-decoding processes) with minimal information losses due to compression. One of the main features of Avantos-UHD is that it allows decoding of the full UHD frame (3840p x 2160l).

Avantos-UHD has professional UHD output video interfaces through 4x synchronized 3G-SDI. Input signals can be received through a DVB-ASI interface, or through IP, where it has various Ethernet interfaces. The IP interface supports the SMPTE-2022 standard and supports FEC to guarantee transmission.

The new solution includes the rest of the features of the Avantos systems such as: support for up to 8 stereo embedded audios, with the possibility of encoding each pair of audios in MPEG1-LII, or AAC; Dolby Digital or Dolby Digital PLUS encoding option up to 5.1; ease of operation through WEB page, SNMP or Display and keyboard on the front of the equipment; and redundant power supply supporting Hot-Insertion… and all this in a device of just 1RU.

At BIT 2016, the new equipment is being demonstrated fully operational, decoding in real time a UHD signal, previously encoded by Sapec in HEVC and Main 422 profile with 10bpp. The signal is displayed on a simple UHD television so that visitors can appreciate the high quality obtained with the use of contribution profiles.
